Vita Nova was not designed in a boardroom or adapted from a manual. It was built by two people who needed something that did not exist yet — and then made it.
Mac & Laura · Founders of Vita Nova · Fort Lauderdale, South FloridaMac went through the conventional route. He did what he was told to do, in the places he was told to go. And he kept ending up back where he started — not because he was unwilling, but because nothing in those environments ever reached the thing underneath the behavior.
What eventually changed his life was not a program. It was a small number of people who refused to let him disappear: who sat with him, told him the truth, stayed present when it was uncomfortable, and treated him like a person rather than a case. That is the experience he and Laura set out to build deliberately, for other people, in a private home.
Vita Nova exists because Mac needed it to exist and it did not. Every decision here — the eight-guest ceiling, the shared meals, the absence of rotating staff — traces back to something that was missing when he needed it most.
“We are not trying to fill beds. We are trying to heal hearts, help people, and create real change.”— Mac & Laura · Founders, Vita Nova
Mac leads the one-on-one work, four to five days a week, for as long as you are at the residence. He is not reading from a curriculum. He is working from a life that went through its own collapse and rebuild.
His approach is direct. He will ask the question nobody in your life has been willing to ask, and he will stay in the room for the answer. Guests consistently describe this as the first time someone told them the truth without flinching.
Because he has been on the other side of it, he is difficult to mislead — and impossible to shock.
Laura builds every guest a full DISC behavioral profile. Understanding how a person is naturally wired changes how Mac works with them and, more importantly, changes how they understand themselves.
She also holds the atmosphere of the house. The flowers in your room, the handwritten note, your name on the door, the weekly rhythm of meals — that is Laura's work, and it is not decoration. Feeling genuinely welcomed is part of what makes the harder conversations possible.
Her focus is family dynamics and temperament: why the people who love you keep colliding with you, and what to do differently.
Mac and Laura are the founders of Vita Nova and the two people you actually work with. Mac leads the one-on-one coaching sessions. Laura is a certified DISC practitioner who builds each guest a full behavioral profile. They live and work alongside every person who comes to the residence.
Mac went through conventional programs himself and kept returning to the same place. Rather than repeat that model, he and Laura rebuilt the entire approach around what actually produced lasting change in his own life: honesty, daily personal attention, accountability, and genuine human connection.
A maximum of eight guests at any time. That ceiling exists so that Mac and Laura can work with each person directly, at least five days a week, without handing anyone off to rotating staff.
Yes. Vita Nova is a private home, not a facility with shift changes. Mac and Laura are present — cooking, eating, talking, and working with guests through the ordinary hours of the day where real change tends to happen.
Before anyone comes to the residence, Mac or Laura speak with them personally. Not an intake coordinator — the founders.
